COMPLIANCE
Anti-Money Laundering (AML) & KYC Policy
Compliance framework for commercial leasing & sub-leasing services.
P2P Properties Limited (“P2P”) is committed to maintaining the highest standards of integrity, transparency and regulatory compliance. This policy outlines the procedures we use to prevent money laundering, financial crime and terrorist financing across our commercial leasing, sub-leasing and property management operations.
1. Policy scope & master tenant framework
This policy applies to all everyday enterprises, commercial tenants, sub-tenants and remote non-occupying master tenants engaging with P2P.
- Contractual master tenant status: All clients hold standard commercial lease agreements and are contractual master tenants rather than equity investors or shareholders.
- Zero tolerance: P2P maintains a strict zero-tolerance policy against money laundering, illegal fund channeling and financial fraud.
2. Know Your Customer (KYC) & due diligence
Before executing any commercial lease agreement, room allocation, or accepting booking deposits, P2P performs thorough KYC verification:
- Individual verification: Valid government-issued ID (National ID, passport), proof of physical address, and contact verification by phone and email.
- Corporate verification: Certificate of Incorporation, Memorandum and Articles of Association, Tax Identification Number (TIN), and identification for all beneficial owners holding more than 25% equity.
- Financial source verification: Proof of funds for room leases, prepaid lease transactions or booking deposits to verify legitimate commercial sources.
3. Approved payment channels & anti-fraud protocols
This policy applies to all everyday enterprises, commercial tenants, sub-tenants and remote non-occupying master tenants engaging with P2P.
- Strict corporate channeling: All lease payments, deposits and sub-lease rental remittances must flow directly through designated company bank accounts at Bank of Africa Uganda.
- Prohibition of personal accounts: Staff, agents and third parties are forbidden from receiving lease funds via personal bank accounts or personal mobile money numbers.
- Traceable remittances: Sub-tenant payouts and monthly master lease returns are remitted directly to the verified corporate or individual bank account on record.
4. Transaction monitoring & suspicious activity reporting
P2P monitors lease transactions and account activity for red flags, including:
- Unusual payment patterns, cash deposit attempts, or payments originating from third parties unlinked to the master tenant contract.
- Requests to transfer lease balances or payout profits to unverified offshore bank accounts or third-party beneficiaries.
- Escalation: suspicious activity is immediately escalated to P2P’s Legal and Compliance Department and reported to regulatory authorities where legally required.
